Chicago Tour: Navy Pier

Ang tagal na ng last post ko. With the past few weeks (hindi lang days), lagi kasi kaming lumalabas. So it would be a cycle of going out on weekends then back to work on weekdays tapos ganun ulit. Walang blogging in between. Madami pa kaming hindi napupuntahan and syempre since nandito kana edi puntahan na. Oh well, so much for the intro.

(Warning: Picture Heavy post :D)

One of the famous attraction here in Chicago is the Navy Pier (read in slang mode lol). Number 1 attraction that is. Sabi sa wiki ng Navy Pier, “the pier was built in 1916 at a cost of $4.5 million, equivalent to $90.5 million today”. As a very good trivia, the construction of Navy Pier is part of The Plan of Chicago mainly authored by Daniel Burnham. Sounds familiar? Si Daniel Burnham lang naman yung nagplan ng Baguio City (Burnham Park named after him), a building in Bacolod City, at ng Manila (of which only three buildings are done to plan, kasi si President Quezon gumawa ng sarili niyang city named after him kaya na-abolish ang plano para sa Manila). Kung adik ka sa facts then you can browse through dyan sa mga links na binigay ko. I just had to mention this kasi I had to commend how the city of Chicago (specially the downtown area) was built. There are parks everywhere where people can park este stroll.

Front: Me and Jayson. Back: Reyn and Richelle.

Ang pagpasok sa loob...

'Love ko to' in a different fashion.

Mga batang nag-'Bilog Bilog Bilugan'. Kaya kulang yung bilog kasi you are supposed to complete it.

A very hard sofa. Lol.

One of the famous activities here in Navy Pier is the Architectural Tour and the Skyline Tour. Basically they are ‘boat’ tours running along the rivers of Chicago and on the Lake Michigan. Nakalimutan ko na kung magkano sila individually but we paid $38 package for both of them. Mas mahal yung Architectural tour kasi 1 hour siya while the other is 30 minutes. Architectural because obviously you will be seeing the buildings of downtown Chicago from the rivers. The downtown area itself is basically built within these river channels so halos lahat ng mga buildings makikita mo on this tour.

The Marina City. Also famously called as the corncob buildings. It was made as a residential and commercial building on itself pati parking andyan na. If you watched Source Code, matatandaan ninyo ang building na ito.

The Merchandise Mart. This is a largest building in the world. It is so large that it has it's own ZIP code (60654).

Since madaming river dito sa Chicago downtown, puro drawbridges like these ang mga street dito. This one sa picture is not working kasi di ata sakto sa other side. Instead of working to remove this, hinayaan na lang nilang ganyan. lol.

Condominium for Rent. Few spaces available.

The Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). It was once the tallest building in the world until the Petronas Towers came.

Hehehe.

When I was a young boy my father took me into the city to see a marching band.

Ang Skyline Tour. See next picture kung ano ang nakikita namin...

Fog is a collection of water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air at or near the Earth's surface.

The boat off Michigan Lake.

The final photo:

A good and bad scene.

The Good. Even as a progressive city, they make their waters ‘clean’ as possible. By the way, a huge part of America is getting their drinking water from Lake Michigan.

The Bad. Sana ganito din sa aten.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Ciao!

Hey, get a picture of yourself in Michael Jordan’s statue. Nasa Chicago Stadium yun, I believe.

LOL
