For the past few weeks me and my wife have been busy with this iOS exclusive game (sorry Android users) called Clash of Clans. CoC is a MMO game where you have to manage your base (I can’t say it’s a town because there is really no townspeople around but roaming women of the same face) and defenses to safeguard resources whilst training warriors to raid other bases (players).
The full game content is free but you can purchase or earn gems to buy resources or instantly finish a construction, a training or an upgrade.

It is Jho who first downloaded it then I also get to like it so now both of us is managing the account. I also get used to being called choco by clan mates after a few days since the player name is Chocolatecake25. It should have been chococheese lol.
Personally, I would say that the game is beautiful visually. The gameplay is not that easy because you have to deploy different strategies offensively with the use of your troops and defensively with proper placement of walls, towers, cannons and traps. Sometimes it is very frustrating that even though you have a powerful army, improper deployment of troops will make it useless. For example, if you put a bunch of archers to attack while a mortar is in range, a single shot would kill all of them. Giants will be useless if the base is heavily walled as they are slow moving. There are still alot of troops out there (which I haven’t unlocked yet) so troop setup have many possible combinations.
One of the problems in CoC is that you cannot choose a player to attack. The matching is done via the number of trophies you both have. Trophies are gained or lost through battles. So there is no formidable defense as you can be attacked by anyone as players 20 levels higher can attack you since players can choose to lose trophies to match players with lower trophies. On of the best thing to do to prevent an attack is to use up your resources before going to sleep. Lol.
What we love:
- Graphics and visual design.
- Huge number of offensive strategy possibilities.
- Comic and humor relief.
- Playing it means months worth of fun (see second bullet below). Addictive.
- You can’t attack a specific player. People who hate you can’t attack you.
- Building and units looks better (supposedly) as you upgrade them.
What we think should improve:
- The trophy system (as mentioned earlier).
- At higher levels, the buildings take time to build. Yes, as in days.
- Comic and humor relief.
- Clans need more interaction like guild wars.
- Clan chatbox is restrictive.
- You can’t attack a specific player. You can’t attack people you hate.
Me and my wife both love the game thus this post. I also wanted to invite my office mates currently playing Immortalis to join. Lol. Thanks to my clan, Pinoy Adobo which is in top 19k now. 😀
