The Girls In My Ears

Magpo-post sana ako ng tungkol sa ibang bagay pero it ended up in the trash. Tapos, shutdown laptop.

With reference to music, if you ask me who are the best girls of music, on top of my head are these three.

Shonen Knife

Shonen Knife is an all girl punk-pop group from Osaka, Japan. The band was originally formed by sisters Naoko and Atsuko Yamano and a college friend Michie Nakatani in 1981. The band got a lot of member changes with only Naoko as an original member in its present roster. To imagine how good they are, think of a band who sings about jelly beans, cookies, sushi, banana chips and barbeque and stay in the music industry for more than 30 years. By the way, Naoko is 52 now and still rocks.

I was actually listening on the below video while writing this.

Songs in my playlist: Top of the World (a cover on the Carpenter’s Song), Daydream Believer (a cover on the Monkee’s Song).

The Cranberries

The Cranberries is an Irish rock band in 1989. For the other facts, read the Wikipedia link. Lol.

One of the first guitar tunes I learned is of their song Zombie. Oh the Zombie song which tells about the trauma of wars.

Songs in my playlist: Zombie, Linger, Ode To My Family, Promises, Free To Decide, Animal Instinct, Just My Imagination.

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls were a British pop girl group formed in 1994. Again, you can read the rest in Wikipedia. The element of success: the catchy songs, the dance moves and the sexy girls.

During their time of popularity, I remember the footwear referred to as ‘spice girls’ shoes. And it sells. I think I used to remember the dance step for the below song, lol.

Songs in my playlist: 2 Become 1, Stop, Viva Forever, Who Do You Think You Are, Too Much.

Now back to sleep.

  1. Wow, kapanahunan!
Spice Girls is Spice Girls. Bibihira sa lalaking umaaming nakikinig sa kanila. Kudos! πŸ˜€
Buti nakakatulog ka pa after listening to them. Perky kasi halos tugtug nila. πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, I also love ‘Promises’ next to ‘Zombie’. Nakakatuwa lang ang isang all girl band singing english songs na may Japanese accent and the fact that a 52 year old still rocks. πŸ˜€

      Spice up your life!

  2. Nung bata ako, mga 4 years old, pinapasayaw ako ni ate ng Stop ng Spice Girls! *stop right now, thank you very much…*
